Hey, I'm Ana

Project manager. Parent. Expat living in Madrid, Spain.

A few years ago, I relocated here with my family. What started as a temporary contract slowly turned into a new chapter of life abroad.

How This Began

Moving to Spain hadn’t been on the cards for the long haul. As with many expatriate relocations, it started as a job chance and soon grew into something far greater.

The initial weeks were demanding — unfamiliar processes, routines, and expectations. Daily chores seemed more complex than expected.

The Adaptation Phase

There was cultural adjustment, uncertainty, and a lot of learning on the fly. Yet gradually routines took shape. We found spots that fit us, connected with other families, and began crafting something that felt secure.

What Led Me to Create Timber Verdant Oak

Most online content was either corporate relocation guidance or superficial tourism material. What was lacking was a frank, everyday family viewpoint.

This site aims to bridge that gap with practical advice drawn from real-life experiences in Spain.

What This Site Covers (And What It Does Not)

This site is:

  • Hands-on experience from living in Spain
  • Centered on family life and everyday realities
  • Updated whenever there is a meaningful change

This site is NOT:

  • Not a tourist authority resource
  • A platform for sponsored reviews
  • Just another generic travel blog

Looking Forward

Our time in Spain continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep documenting what we discover.

If you have questions about family life in Madrid or anywhere in Spain, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Best regards,

Ana
